The second piece I tried was Trepak or Russian dance from Nutcracker suite arranged by Pletnev. I thought that while Pletnev's performance was powerful and almost superhuman, maybe I could find another approach. I had read Levine's booklet and I liked the idea of making every note sing. I found a nice fingering to play the climax with less agility (of right hand).

Playing this was difficult. I first tried with B211 Steinway and found that I could not control the volume of left hand. The next weekend I chose C6X Yamaha. This piano is quite large (212cm) and slow (heavy) for me. I just snap and bang chords after chords.

I understand I am kind of "weak" physically and need training, but I do not know where to improve; fingers? arms? torso?

Luckily this performance still has an edge. No one can deny the original liveliness surviving in this recording.
