Voormolen: Sonata (1947) -- another "premiere" recording

While I was searching Voormolen scores, I found a piano sonata with a price of just 4 US dollars published by XYZ International. I did not expect much from such a inexpensive score, but it turned out a full-body sonata with 3 movements:

I. Allegretto II. Aria, Larghetto

III. Allegro vivace The harmony of this sonata in general is more transparent than that of the earlier Voormolen works which I have played. One can find influence from Ravel (Sonatine, Le Tombeau de Couperin, Ondine). Possibly this sonata is for the memory of those lost in the war as Ravel did in Tombeau. It appears this sonata was dedicated to a dutch pianist, Marinus Flipse (1908-1997).

The first movement is enigmatic and in a reclusive mood. I studied 3rd movement first and it helped my understanding of the 1st movement. Required playing technique is different, but the harmony is quite similar. Still I am not sure I have demonstrated a sonata form clearly in the 1st movement. (3rd movement is fine, I hope.) The score is full of exaggerated hair-pins (creac. and dim.) unfamiliar to me.

It causes a thinner bass line.

You can check Flipse's playing (of other pieces) in internet. His recording of Grieg's Troldhaugen, one can hear good round voice. Also this pianist rarely rush. I imagine he played this sonata with a softer touch than most modern pianists playing Ravel or Poulenc.

I call this recording "premiere" because I cannot find any youtube/ commercial recordings. I had difficulty in hands arrangement because the arpeggios of the left hand was broad and easily collided with melodies of right hand. Another technical problem for me was the 2nd finger in the left hand, whose MP joint is not in a good condition. I decided to use the 3rd finger whenever possible, but balance of the codes, especially in the movement I and III, got wrong.
