Somehow I forgot to write about this. As I understand this is just before I played at kindergarten.
As I fell in love with piano transcriptions of nutcracker suite, I naturally searched for original variations by the same composer. I found a pretty looking one with opus number 19-6, which looked as if it is a fancy character piece among other 5 pieces in Op.19.
I found a youtube performance by a young Russian pianist, maybe a disciple of Nikolai Petrov. It is a shame I cannot remember his name, but his rendition was so clear and powerful that this variation appears to me a key repertoire connecting Schumann and masters in late 19th century. ...I do not think one can play Rachmaninov or Busoni (I mean their variations) after studying this, but Grieg, Dvorak, Liadov, Arenski, and arguably Glazunov come within the scope. (If I had really studied Schumann, Chopin, and Brahms, there were no problem in tackling these directly.)
I used all the three pedals and hopefully managed to make this piece sound pretty and at the same time clear.
